3-DAY LARP WORKSHOP

Nina Runa Essendrop, Susan Ploetz and Mark Durkan run LARPs, game mechanisms, simulation techniques and best practice protocols used in creating speculative scenarios that instrumentalize tools and skills from their individual artistic practices, different LARP cultures, and the union methodology. Lecture and discussions situated these techniques in the intersection of play, performativity and politics in artistic and cultural practices.

In this workshop we explored with Rahel Spöhrer the world of ASMR (Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response) – finding out about the triggers that speak to you, researching settings of intimacy, the enjoyment of alienation, the digitalization of personal attention and care, and the queer potential of post-porn sensation. CREATING COSMOSES

THE EROTIC AS AN ARTISTIC METHODOLOGY

In this workshop writer and curator Ioanna Gerakidi introduced us to the erotic as an artistic methodology. Drawing on eros and love, the Lab12 members explored the dynamics of language and voice through a series of exercises in which they attempted to track down their personal fragmented narratives.

LEADING AND FOLLOWING

Performer and choreographer Kiriakos Hadjiioannou gave a workshop on a pivotal part of performing arts. The Lab12 members were encouraged to explore the spatial elements of leadership and followership and empower their collaboration by participating in improvisation exercises, developing dance phrases in small groups and switching the lead/follow roles.

SUSTAINABILITY WORKSHOP

Co-operation, 19 December 2018

How can the puzzle of sustainability be worked out? In this co-operation workshop, the Lab12 members created entrepreneurship scenarios with which can integrate sustainability in their work – from alternative porn to apps and lemonades.

Hot Wheels & 650mah

Hugo Wheeler of the Hot Wheels Projects – a space for a new generation of Greek and Cypriot practitioners alongside international practitioners – with Ella Fleck and Tabitha Steinberg of 650mah – a project space that challenges traditional gallery models by settling itself within a pre-existing business – presented their project spaces, shared important experiences, and made a studio crit to the members of the Lab.

Enterprise Projects

Enterprise Projects is one of the independent art initiatives that make the Athenian art scene so vibrant. Our discussion about the contemporary art creation with the curator and writer Danai Giannoglou and the artist Vasilis Papageorgiou at Lab12 was very inspiring as well as the studio crit that followed.
